(p.s. My favorite source for tanks is Mossimo Target. They are great for layering and come in every color. I love Express shorts in the summer, Hudson jeans, and Express casual three-quarter lightweight tees).
I had the perfect narrow wall adjacent to the mirror in my closet for the inspiration board.
I recycled the Target cork boards that were previously in our mudroom and covered them with fabric (leftover from my book project) to make them prettier. They were $5 for a pack of 4 and I doubled them for this project to make them thicker.
Cut the fabric about two inches larger than the cork board and use spray adhesive to adhere the fabric to the board.
I used Command strips to hang the boards on the wall.
I just started going through my InStyle and People Style Watch subscriptions for some images to keep me inspired.
And then I found this encouraging "Hey Gorgeous." Who doesn't want to hear that while they're getting ready in the morning?! I especially like what it said below, "why not show yourself some love and stop fixating on your perceived figure flaws." Yes, we can all do that.
And thank you for all of your kind comments on Jenna's weight loss story on Honey We're Healthy. I know she appreciated it so very much!

First of all, your closet is GORGEOUS. Absolutely fabulous. Second of all, love your cute inspiration boards. Your fabric choice is so fun! I'm friends with Cassie (she works with my husband), and you're right...she has the best style EVER. If you've got an extra second, you should check out my blog Pinterest Told Me To where I re-create Pinterest outfits with things out of my own closet! (I need help, and Pinterest is really helping!)

Great idea! I'm always seeing outfit ideas and then forgetting them as I stand in my closet in the morning thinking, "Okay...what today??"
ReplyDeleteThat's an awesome idea! So much better to have it right in front of you as you are dressing than to run to a Pinterest board and try to remember the next day. Great tip!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I see nothing wrong with your sense of style. I love the look of your first little collage! Comfy, cozy, and totally doable.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of your closet now. It reminds me of a display in a store! Great idea!
what a neat idea! now that we have pinterest boards for inspiration ~ it is actually refereshing to do ACTUAL mood boards!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. Your closet photos from before really don't depict the size of it. It's WAAAY larger.

Love the fashion board! A great way to keep those new looks on the mind! I always get lost when I am in a rush to put an outfit together! I may just have to make my own board :) Great idea! xo Kristin

I love that fabric - your closet is so dreamy! Such a great idea - I could totally use an inspiration board in my closet as well. I get into a rut so easily and have a hard time putting things together. Dressing myself is not an easy task - ha! Why can't I wear workout pants every day? PS - I read Jenna's story while I was in bed with the flu so I didn't leave a comment. I was so inspired. Actually decided to try the Paleo thing my friend has been nagging me about - I've been doing it for just over a week a now. I hope to have a great after story like Jenna someday! So far so good - but I'm not gonna lie - I miss cheese!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I need to do this. Wait, I need your closet space, first so I actually have a place to hang these, ha! : )
ReplyDeleteI actually love your go-to outfits, but I know what you mean about wanting to branch out more. I'm about ready to unload half of my closet I think ~ three kids and 7 years later, many items have been waiting to get worn again and getting free storage. ;-) I love the boards you made, and YES, you are gorgeous dear!
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness - I love this idea! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI will take my iPhone in my closet with me and access my Pinterest fashion boards from my phone. It really helps when you feels like you have nothing to wear!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and ideas! Wishing you a great weekend!

Such a good idea! I'm usually a jeans and t-shirt girl, and I dont really wear jewelry, but I'm working on "growing up" my wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteLove your closet and this idea!! I have been trying to be more fashion savvy lately and having an inspiration board is a wonderful idea. Thanks, Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteTotally blushing that you included me. I was actually just thinking I need to print out some ideas and hang them up. You are such a smart cookie. I love this. I love your style and you can wear anything. Lucky girl.
ReplyDeleteYour closet is amazing! I think it the size of my living room. I love the idea. You have also inspired me to organize my closet.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I really need to update my closet.
ReplyDeleteAww thanks for the sweet shout out! Made my day! What a great idea to make an inspiration board. I use pinterest alot now for that but it is nice to see the actual outfits!
ReplyDeleteThe inspiration board is a fun idea! My 'word' for 2013 is beauty, and I am working on making more of an effort with apperance. Styling my hair more regularly, and taking time to maintain clothes and pick out outfits. Probably sounds superficial, but I felt like I had let myself go. Don't you always feel better when you LOOK better? Anyway, may try this idea! Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteOk, I didn't think your closet could get any better but it just did! Love this simple idea.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea!! Although it may just make me angry that I don't have those items in my closet. haha Great idea for outfit pairings though to make you look differently at things you already own!
ReplyDeleteThis is so clever! I cannot wait to do this in my room too. I must say getting out my iPhone while getting dressed was annoying.
